VOXPAX INSTITUTE is under development - an "Internet Peace Institute" in a state of becoming. The Institute has a small initial enrollment of peace workers, students, teachers, faculty and staff seeking to educate themselves in the ways of peace. Our mission is to provide an educational environment for the Voices of Peace: the voice of conscience, the wisdom of peace makers, the testimony of pacifists, the prayers of oppressed people who seek surcease from war - for those voices to be recorded, reinforced and made knowable. The Institute seeks to bring worldwide attention to the cause of peace - "that the Voices of Peace be Heard". VOXPAX INSTITUTE, at its core, is the Internet Resource Center and Library dedicated to the service of those who seek the way to peace - an online repository for written words, essays, and audio-visual information collected for the scholarly purposes of those who seek to advance the cause of peace. In its "Voices for Peace Program", VoxPax publishes commentary, editorial opinion, op-ed response, and white paper essays which propose alternatives to armed conflict and war. VoxPax serves its educational audience as a bulletin board resource and speakers platform for the "Voices of Peace". The Library Peace Center is the centerpiece of the Institute. VOXPAX INSTITUTE is the educational component of the VoxPax Community which exists (1) to preserve human life and eliminate the occasion for war, (2) to bring relief to the victims of terror and war, (3) to alleviate the scourge conditions (hunger, disease, poverty, war) that obstruct all roads to peace, (4) to advance the use of nonviolent conflict resolution in the conduct of human affairs, and (5) to induce warring nations and terrorists to put down their weapons and come together in peace. VoxPax seeks to build a more humane society by peaceful means and the transcendent power of human love. These purposes are core curriculum components of the VoxPax Peace Institute. |
