VOXPAX
VOICES of PEACE

Information, Definitions,
Vision and Mission Statements

VOXPAX is a humanitarian, not-for-profit, non-governmental agency and Peace Mission focused, as its name implies, on the "Voices of Peace". VoxPax was established in 2001 with the assistance of the Peace and Social Concerns Committee of the Purchase Quarterly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends.

The VOICES of PEACE include the spoken and written words of our predecessors - the writings of historians, philosophers and other learned people whose wisdom we respect - the observations of journalists and others who have witnessed the horrors of war - the hopes and prayers of those who have been victimized by terror and war. Many millions of "voices" are those of peaceable people who resist tyranny - who do what they can to preserve life and protect the civil rights of others to live their lives in peace.

T
his WEBSITE serves as an Internet Library and Resource Center for the "Voices of Peace" - for the storage and transmission of peace action news and information - for students who study peace, non-violence and conflict resolution - for use as a web-based sounding board from which the Voices
of Peace are "heard". VoxPax is linked with 29 peace agencies - see list.

Our VISION is of better times when the Voices of Peace are heard - when the occasion for war is taken away - when the deadly activities of tyrants and terrorists are terminated - when issues such as poverty, injustice, prejudice, disease, famine, greed, fear, etc. are resolved by nonviolent and peaceful means. Peace is possible if we speak the truth - if we treat all people as equals - if we give unto others the love and respect we give unto ourselves - if we are empathetic, helpful and do no harm. Then, and only then, may we expect that wars will end and Peace will Happen.

Our MISSION is to speak the Truth and let the Voices of Peace be heard - to publish VoxPax News and Information - to spread the "Gospel of Peace" around the world, and build a Global Culture of pragmatic pacifism.
