VOXPAX is a coalition of peaceable people seeking peace. Peace requires that wars end, that terrorists and war-fighters put down their weapons, and that issues such as poverty, disease, and hunger are resolved in peaceful ways. VoxPax is focused on the "Voices of Peace" - the voices of conscience, the hopes and prayers of war's victims, and the wisdom of those who have survived the violence of war. OUR MISSION is to listen attentively to the Voices of Peace, and build a "Culture of Peace" based on truth, non-violence and the mutual respect we have in our hearts for the earth and its people.
VOXPAX is a Resource Center and Library dedicated to the cause of peace. This website is maintained as a reference resource for scholars who study peace; as a web-based forum for a free and open discussion of war and peace issues; as an internet magazine that publishes anti-war information and pacifist opinion; as a network facility for the dissemination of peace action news; and as a web-based bulletin board and speakers platform from which the Voices of Peace are heard. OUR MISSION is to publish and distribute Voice of Peace Information - to make those "Voices" widely heard - understood - and practically decisive in our lives.
VOXPAX works for peace. Peace is continuously obstructed by economic predators that range the earth seeking to profit from other people's natural resources - that ransack the earth to get financial control of non-renewable energy sources - that employ migrant workers, prisoners, children and slaves to work for insufficient wages - and exploit our insecurities by spreading fear, making WMDs, selling drugs, and making war. Unbridled capitalism only widens the gap between rich and poor; pushing more and more people into homelessness, poverty, despair, disease and death. OUR MISSION is to be attentive to the Voices of Poverty - to rid the world of avarice - to "right-share" what resources we may own - to pay a fair price for resources we consume - and restore the world to economic good health and peace.
VOXPAX, by means of its "Voices", seeks to form a kinder and gentler society - not just for ourselves, but for all people and the global community of which we are a part. Success requires that we are steadfast and true to our mission. By means of truth, reason and our concern for the sanctity of life, VoxPax seeks to bring about surcease from war and the transformative changes needed to lighten our burden and brighten our future. VoxPax requires that all people are respected and told the truth - that the public dialog is purged of hate talk and scare tactics - that the occasions for war are eliminated. OUR MISSION is to build the "Beloved Community" - a "Peaceable and Just Society" wherein the "Voice of Peace" is operative in our lives.
